Only 7 Days

Our trip is only one week away!  Plans have been made, tickets purchased, passports and visas in hand...We have prayed for our travels and for our families we are leaving behind.  We have prayed for Shampa and for the children we are going to serve.  We have prayed that the Lord will show us how to love these children and will lead our steps each day.

We are incredibly excited and so thankful for everyone's support and love and prayers.  Please continue to pray for us as we head out next Wednesday the 16th.  I have no idea what kind of Internet capabilities I will have while on our trip, but if I can post anything at all, an update or pictures, I will!!!

Love, Mary

Camp, fundraisers, and blessings!

So, we had our 4th team meeting last night!  Our trip is only SIX WEEKS AWAY!!!!  We have come up with the theme for our children's camp in Calcutta, India.  The theme is The Army of the Lord, and all activities will be based on our Identity in Christ, putting on the armor of God, seen and unseen weapons of the Kingdom, seen and unseen threats from the enemy, being a Warrior for God, etc etc.  Please begin to PRAY for all aspects of the camp to come together!!!!  We will need to plan games, arts and crafts, worship, study times, skits.....all those great things you remember from your own experiences as a child!  Please pray for the children and also the young adults who will be helping us and interpreting for us during the camp.

Also, we are selling crosses and taking family photos as fundraisers for our trip.  If this is something you would like to know more about, please email Mary Bone at marybone1975@yahoo.com.

Blessings to all of you!!!

Come near to God and He will come near to you.  James 4:8

Team India Meeting #3

Hey Team India,

Just a recap of Meeting #3:
·        Jacob and Angelique gave us some really great information about Calcutta.  Please read and if you have any questions at all, email them to me!  Or save for our next meeting.
·        So that we can be better prepared and informed, we are dividing up several topics of interest so that we can educate one another.  Topics and presenter are as followed:

o   Hindi and Muslim – BJ

o   The poor – Angelique

o   Sex trade – Gary

o   The youth – Misty

o   Christians in India – Jacob

o   Shampa Rice – Mary
·        Jacob is going to take our photos this Friday evening before we enjoy the movie “Slumdog Millionaire.”  He needs two more passport approved photos for our visas, so please come dressed in pretty plain clothing.  No brass Gary!!!!!  We are meeting at the Moore’s house on Friday at 6 pm.  More to come about dinner!
·        Our itinerary is in place, for the most part; be prepared for time changes, but the dates are set.

o   Depart DFW May 16th at 6:15 pm, Arrive London May 17th 9:05 am

o   Layover in London!!!!  We shall have tea (or a pint of lager, ha ha) and crumpets and fish n chips!!!  No, we will have fun exploring Piccadilly Square.

o   Depart London May 17th 5:40 pm, Arrive in Delhi May 18th 6:20 am

o   Depart Delhi May 18th 9:35 am, Arrive Calcutta May 18th  11:40 am
·        When we arrive in Calcutta we will begin our exploration of the city.  This will most likely be our “touristy” day.  Mary and Jacob will continue to do a little research about what to do and share with the group.  For safety, we want to stay together as a group and try to do things that everyone will enjoy.  We will check in to our hotel that day.
·        On the 19th, we hope to be able to travel around Calcutta with Shampa Rice, so that she can give us an up close and personal tour.  Hopefully this day we will be able to see more “locals” and how they live, including the slums.
·        Camp begins with the kids on May 20th!!!  It will be five days with the theme of “In the Lord’s Army.”  We want to share with the children their identity in Christ and how the Lord equips us with everything we will ever need to live and “battle” daily.  More to come on exact activities, lessons, games, crafts, etc.  In the meantime, please email me any ideas you have for anything!!!  Games, crafts, music, plays, etc., just think back to your camp and VBS days!!!
·        Here’s a breakdown of the kids’ ages and sex:

o   Girls 6-11 years = 16

o   Girls 12-19 years = 55

o   Boys 8-12 years = 22

o   Boys 13-19 years = 15

o   So 37 boys and 71 girls!
·        We talked about finances and some fundraising efforts that we might do as a group.  The ideas included Easter gift baskets, handmade crosses, Easter brisket or ham deliveries, family portrait sessions, cupcakes, and a 5K run.  Please email me any more ideas you may have, or anything that you feel you could participate in!!
·        Please begin to pray for our team, and also begin to ask your friends and family for their prayers for you individually while we are away.  So, ask people in your life for them to commit to pray for you on a specific day during our trip.  Don’t forget to send them an email before we leave reminding them of the day they are to pray for you.
·        As you get donations, when you send out your thank yous, be sure to give out our blog website so that they can follow us as we prepare for our trip and as we minister to the people of India.  http://beltwaymissionindia2012.blogspot.com
·        Love to all of you!!!

Seek God’s kingdom, and all the other things you need will be given to you.  Luke 12:31
